Have you ever heard the saying "penny wise, but pound foolish"? There's a lot of truth to that phrase. Sometimes, trying to cut costs can end up leaving you out of pocket in the long run. Here are five times when people often try to save money, and end up paying out even more in the long run. Avoiding Maintenance So, you've been avoiding replacing the rubber seal on your washing machine because you can't believe that a ring of rubber costs so much. That's a bad idea. Buying a new washing machine would cost even more, and that's what you might need to do if the seal leaks. Spending a few pounds could save you a few hundred down the line. Buying Cheap, Low Quality Items You may think you're picking up a bargain when you choose the cheapest item in the shop, but there's a big difference between quality oak doors and cheaper veneered wood. High quality, environmentally friendly reclaimed doors will last a lifetime. There's a good chance those veneered doors will start looking shabby almost immediately after you put them on their hinges. If you come to sell your home, you'll be wishing you'd paid an extra few pounds for oak doors that would have impressed prospective buyers, and you could lose out on a quick sale because you failed to make a good first impression. Dodging Health Care OK, so nobody wants to go to the dentists, but don't try to fool yourself into thinking you're saving money by not going. Paying a small amount for regular treatment is a much better decision (financially, and health wise), than avoiding treatment until you're in agony and need medication and a nice long session complete with anaesthetic and a drill. Insufficient Insurance It's true that insurance is an oversold thing these days. It doesn't make sense to buy an extended warranty on a bargain basement device. It does, however, make sense to keep your home insurance, health insurance, and travel insurance up to date. You may never need it, but the one time you do, you'll want to make sure that you're covered for whatever disaster you encounter. Buying Lower Spec Products Than You Need This issue is similar to the one of oak reclaimed doors vs veneered doors, but with a technology twist. While a well made, high quality electronic product might be perfectly serviceable for other people, if it doesn't meet your needs (or just barely meets them), there's no point buying it. If you're upgrading your computer so that it meets the system requirements for a video game that you want to play, work out your budget and try to get the best possible system you can for the money. Sometimes, even spending a relatively small amount more can make a big difference to the power of the product you're getting. Doesn't it make sense to spend a little more now, if that will mean that you'll get an extra 6 months or a year life out of your graphics card? Strictly research! Love is in the air today, millions of people hearts are filled with love and joy for that special someone, but unfortunately the love and joy I once had with SurveySpot.com is quickly disappearing!
SurveySpot.com use to be my favorite online paid survey company and was even the first online paid survey company I joined! I enjoyed easily qualifying for their paid online surveys, getting many invites to their high paid online focus groups, and getting a lot of paid product testing online surveys. I remember when I would make their $10 payout within a week, but those days has long past. Since Surveyspot.com has gone to a new system, I can hardly qualify for any of their surveys! It has been over 6 months since I have made payout with them! SurveySpot.com keep sending me survey invites in my email box of surveys I have already completed and the survey tells me "I have already completed the survey and not qualify, so I can not get any points for it." If that is the case then WHY ARE THEY SENDING ME INVITES TO SURVEYS I HAVE ALREADY COMPLETED AND DIDN'T QUALIFY FOR THE FIRST TIME? This survey company is starting to really tick me off! They use to be one of the best and oldest online paid survey companies on the Internet. The only good thing about Surveyspot.com is that they pay you immediately to your Pay Pal account once you cash out and make $10 (1000 points) payout, but it is pretty much pointless when you can't even make payout because you can't qualify for any of their surveys!!!!! SurveySpot.com needs to get it together or I will sadly have to close my account with them and remove their link on my Work From Home page. Sorry for my rant on this day that is suppose to be about love, hugs, and roses but I had to get it off my chest because once again this morning I didn't qualify for any of their online surveys, so they wasted my time. I'm wondering if their starting to become a scam like some of the other online paid survey websites? Are you having the same problems with SurveySpot.com like I am? Oh yeah Happy Valentine's Day! I hope your day is filled with happiness and joy! One night while watching the show Teen Mom on MTV (one of my guilty pleasures) I came across a commercial called BigSpot.com. You may have also seen the commercial too and is wondering if this website is real or fake?
They were stating that you can make extra money online voicing your opinions with online surveys with no fees! Market researchers are looking for consumers to evaluate their products and give their honest opinion on it and you can be rewarded for it. I knew I had to check them out since I love making extra money online with paid online surveys. But I needed to make sure this company is legitimate, so I went online to take a look. Upon arriving on the website, it looked pretty real to me and website was professionally done so I decided I would fill out my information to get started. (I used my barely used Email address just in case this website is fake because scammers like to sell your email address). After filling out my information, BigSpot.com led me to a new page with a list of survey websites I can join for free. I noticed almost all the survey websites they had listed base on my age are the ones I have already signed up with and also the survey companies are listed on my Work From Home page. There were a couple I have never signed up before called Quality Health and RewardTV. I clicked on them both and they both do not look like a paid survey websites, but instead look like an Paid Offers website. I did not sign up with them since I am already a member with plenty of Paid Offer programs. Also I noticed they started sending me email alerts each day of online survey companies I should join. So is BigSpot.com real or just another online scam? I will say Yes and No. Yes they could be potentially a scam because they asked for my information when they are not even a survey company themselves, they're just the middle men referring people to paid survey websites and getting paid for leads and also could be selling peoples' information. No they could actually be a legitimate website since they do advertise real paid survey companies. Also they may not be selling peoples' information (hopefully not). But always stay cautious! Remember....NEVER PAY MONEY TO ANY SURVEY COMPANY BECAUSE IT IS A SCAM! Market Researchers pay the survey companies to find the right consumers for them to complete their surveys. Car insurance is one of those bills that people hate to pay, but are required to have in the United States to legally drive on streets and freeways. For many consumers, they pay their monthly or yearly insurance bill without any thought to the coverage inside. Does a 10 year old car need to have the same coverage as a 1 year old car? Absolutely not. There are a number of different ways to save on car insurance costs. Increase the Deductible When shopping for a car insurance policy, many consumers look for the lowest deductible possible; it makes sense that you would want your out of pocket expenses to be as small as possible after a car accident. However, a low deductible normally equals a high monthly premium for the convenience. By increasing the deductible, the premium will naturally lower. Be cautious when increasing the deductible though; you will need to evaluate what monetary amount is feasible for your personal situation if you have to actually pay the deductible amount in the event of an accident. Careful planning and budgeting will help you find a happy medium between the deductible and your monthly premium. Wrong Coverage When a consumer finances a new car, the lender will require a collision and comprehensive coverage package on the vehicle to protect the investment during the financing period. Many consumers continue with this coverage even after the vehicle is paid in full. Most financing periods are between 3 and 5 years; after this amount of time, the collision and comprehensive coverage can be significantly lowered on the insurance policy since the car has a lower resale value. In fact, cars that are nearing 10 years and older can actually have this coverage pulled completely off the policy. If the vehicle is in an accident, it would be financially better to repair the car yourself, rather than going through the insurance company. Avoiding a claim with the insurance company will help you retain your good standing and inexpensive monthly payment structure. Keep a Strong Credit Score Insurance companies need an internal business gauge to determine the likelihood of an individual claiming on a policy. As a result, many companies rely on credit scores to calculate each policy's premium amount. If a credit score is low, it is possible that the insurance company will increase the monthly rate accordingly. Keep track of your credit history by checking it at least on a yearly basis; consumers that scan their credit history for mistakes will reap the rewards of a smaller car insurance bill. In addition, consumers should pay their bills on time; any late or default accounts will reflect on the credit report and will be visible to the insurance companies. Look for Discounts Many insurance companies have incentives for good drivers; ask your individual carrier about their discount offerings. Some discounts that can be applied include driver training completion, student academic achievement, and multiple policies. Many companies offer discounts based on the amount of years without an accident. If you are a good driver, this is a discount that deserves your attention. Another discount type is simply based on yearly mileage. If you are a person that only drives less than 7,000 miles in a year, many companies will discount their premiums; the lack of driving during the year lowers the chances of an accident. You will save insurance and gas money by driving less during the year. Use Tracking Devices Today's technology has given a rise to tracking devices. Some insurance companies offer these devices to customers; by attaching the device to the car, it will send out signals about the driver's speed and daily driving habits. For good drivers, these devices are proof of the daily caution used on the road. Heavy discounts can be earned on monthly premiums by agreeing to use the device. One insurance area that many people overlook is the use of short term car insurance for short term driving. For example, if you borrow someone's car, or drive a rental vehicle, who is liable for damages if an accident occurs? Although you may be insured on your own personal vehicle, that will not extend to a rental car or to your friend behind the wheel. Short term car insurance can be allocated for these situations, from a one day policy to a full six months. You will be fully covered, based on the chosen coverage, in the event of an accident. This insurance type is often overlooked, but is extremely helpful in a bad car accident. Having a limited budget means being creative with bills that can be modified; car insurance has many options that can be changed, as opposed to an electric bill that must be paid in full. If you have concerns regarding the correct coverage of your vehicle, contact your local insurance representative. He or she can guide you to the best coverage. Always keep in mind that there are many insurance companies in the marketplace. Figure out the best quotes and why you're saving on car insurance. A good insurance company will try to cater to your needs as much as possible. Now more than ever, people are struggling to feed their families. Since the unemployment rate in the United States hit an all time high, the reality of not being able to find work and having to scrape together pennies, you must now manage your finances.
If you’re seriously struggling with money, here are some tips to help you save: 1. Bare Minimums, No Luxury This doesn’t necessarily mean that you need to live a life of that of a squatter, but buying food and having enough money for rent is more important than buying a new tablet, for instance. Granted, you can still find ways to have a fun and fulfilling life without much money, so while you may be giving up that Starbucks coffee every morning, you’ll be able to use that leftover money for essentials and perhaps a Saturday of stress relief. 2. Only Buy Things on Sale Sure, it might sound like an awesome idea to drop six dollars on a tub of premium ice cream, but when a similar item is sitting next to it that is two for five dollars, it doesn’t look as good. More often than not, stores will have plenty of sale items to give customers incentive to come and spend money. This is also the perfect opportunity to get all of your shopping done at a low cost. You’ll usually be able buy most of your needs on sale. 3. Restrict Driving Habits I’ve seen people drive for hours and hours, and for no particular reason, either. Driving a V8 sports car is definitely fun, but if you plan on having money for more important things, you’ll need to cut that driving time at least in half. A lot of people don’t have sports cars, but this rule still applies to economical cars. Driving to and from work should be the only real destination you should be making, in addition to less frequent trips to the store and the like. 4. Look for Cheaper Housing I bet if you looked around for a cheaper place to live, it would not be a difficult chore. Let’s say you’re paying $1300 a month plus utilities, cable and Internet; You could probably find a place that costs $1200 with utilities, cable and Internet included. Imagine how much money you’d save every month? You’d have at least $500 in your pocket that you wouldn’t normally have! These are only some ways to save money, but they will certainly help you save hundreds of dollars a month. When you’re tight on money, even a few hundred dollars in your favor can mean the world!
